• Asthma is a chronic airway condition that leads to wheezing and difficulty breathing . During an asthma attack, the airways will swell, the muscles around them will tighten, and it becomes difficult for air to move in and out of the lungs.
• Asthma can be minor or it can interfere with daily activities. In some cases, it may lead to a life-threatening attack.
• Typically, it develops during childhood or old age, but it can affect you at any age. People who have allergies or a parent or close family member with asthma are more likely to have the condition.
• Sign & Symptoms : tightness in the chest , breathlessness, wheezing, coughing, increased mucus production.

• Allergic Asthma : due to allergens , air pollutants & other environmental factors.
• Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB) : It causes shortness of breath, wheezing, coughing and other symptoms during or after exercise . Among people with asthma, exercise is likely just one of several factors that may trigger breathing difficulties.
• Non-allergic Asthma : caused by stress , anxiety , hormone fluctuations, acid reflux , certain drugs , fireplace or wood smoke , changes in weather , cold air , obesity etc.
• Occupational Asthma: results from exposure to an allergen or irritant present in the workplace.

Bronchitis

• when your bronchial tubes, which carry air to your lungs, get inflamed and swollen. You end up with a nagging cough and mucus.
• Bronchitis can be acute or chronic. Acute bronchitis usually has a cough that lasts around three weeks, and is also known as a chest cold.
• Chronic bronchitis is defined as a productive cough – one that produces sputum – that lasts for three months or more per year for at least two years.

Pneumonia

• It happens when an infection causes the air sacs in your lungs to fill with fluid or pus. That can make it hard for you to breathe in enough oxygen to reach your bloodstream.
• Symptoms include: Cough that produces phlegm or mucus ,Chest pain when you breathe or cough, Fever, sweating, and chills, Fatigue and loss of appetite, Shortness of breath. The symptoms of pneumonia can occur from a few days to a week following the flu-like symptoms

• Aspiration pneumonia develops as a result of inhaling food or drink, saliva, or vomit into the lungs. This occurs when the swallowing reflex is impaired, such as with brain injury or in an intoxicated person.
• Pneumonia that arises from being on a ventilator for respiratory support in the intensive care setting is known as ventilator-associated pneumonia.

• We all suffer from coughs and colds at one time or another. Sometimes the symptoms are mild and sometimes we have to suffer for several days.
• For the first few days that you're sick, your runny nose will be watery, but it turns thicker and darker after that. You may also get a mild cough that can last into the second week of your cold.
• If you cough up thick or dark mucus or you get a fever, you may have an infection with a bacteria.Consult with your doctor if your cough doesn't get better after a few weeks.
• Cough includes DRY ( no sputum ) or WET (sputum ) croup , throat pain, chest pain, chest congestion, headache, earpain, blocked nose etc.
• Cold includes sneezing, running nose, watery eyes , headache etc.

• 1. DNS : Deviated nasal septum DNS (Deviated nasal septum) is defined as the deviation of nasal septum from normal/center of the nasal cavity. The nasal septum consist of bone and cartilage which divides the nasal cavity into two equal halves. The deviation of nasal septum makes breathing difficult for a person because one of their nostrils is smaller than the other.
• Conditions such as common cold, blockage of the respiratory tract, etc. might be seen in the patient.This condition is also responsible for inflammation of sinus, and many patients might experience repeated nosebleeds or post nasal drips.
• 2. NASAL POLYPS: are soft, painless, noncancerous growths on the lining of your nasal passages or sinuses. They hang down like teardrops or grapes.
• Symptoms include nose bleeding, Breathing problem, Snoring etc.

Causes of DNS

• An injury to the nose/face
• By birth or during development
• Genetic connective tissue disorders

Causes of NASAL POLYP

• Chronic inflammation
• Recurring infection
• Allergies
• Drug sensitivity
• Certain immune disorders

• Sinusitis is a common inflammation of the paranasal sinuses, the cavities that produce the mucus necessary for the nasal passages to work effectively.
• Common symptoms are nasal discharge, blocked nose, congestion, cough, facial pain and pressure, headache, watery eyes .Generally symptoms appear one side than it goes to another or alternate.
• Allergies, bacteria or a virus can cause inflammation of the sinuses, or sinusitis.

• Nasal polyps

• Wheezing is a high-pitched whistling sound during breathing. It occurs when air moves through narrowed breathing tubes in the lungs.It happens more often when exhaling, but can also be heard when inhaling. Some wheezing can only be heard with a stethoscope.
• Anyone from infants to elderly adults--can develop wheezing. Children with asthma , Babies ( because of their smaller airways) , Adults - smokers and individuals with emphysema and heart failure are more likely to develop wheezing.
• Symptoms : vary depending on the cause of your wheezing but commonly accompany are Shortness of breath – Coughing , Chest tightness , Fever , Loss of voice , Stuffy nose.
• How you will know that its wheezing? Specially in childs it can be associated with chronic cough , Restlessness , sound comes when they lying down.
• Wheezing may be triggered by short-term illnesses or health emergencies.
